A parfleche is a type of wallet or bag made from rawhide. Historically made by Plateau, Great Basin, and Plains women, they are usually decorated with brightly colored geometrical designs. Susan Lenarz is a new Albuquerque resident and our newest instructor. She'll be sharing with you how to complete this beautiful project.
Using a simple design, we will create a light and easy travel amulet bag with a 1' square beaded or embroidered decoration. Students will begin to develop stitch samples for decoration.
History, techniques, uses, and samples will be discussed during class
Students need to bring:
Notebook and pen ( for taking notes)
Assorted needles for the hand-stitching
3 colors of embroidery floss
All other supplies are supplied
The studio is cleaned and disinfected routinely.
Air Purifier & UV-C Scrubber is utilized 24/7
Social distancing will be exercised between students at our worktables.
Each student will have their own tables
Class/Workshops are kept small to ensure safety
