About the Event

Mita Saldana is the owner of Against the Grain and a professional bookbinder and antique repairs.

This binding is an exposed version of what is happening in a raised cord binding you may have seen in a library or museum.  It's so tactile and yummy!

We will be sewing onto 2-3 sets of single or double cords.  The colorful threads will show across the cords and then the cords will be laced into or sewn on top of the hardcovers.

This is my NEW favorite!

Most materials and tools will be provided.  Please bring your own PVA glue.

No experience necessary.  Beginners Welcome

If you have your own bookbinding tools bring them, including a cutting mat.  I will also have the student tool kit for use if you don't have your own tool kits yet, or you have forgotten or missing items.   A complete list of materials and supplies will be provided when you sign up.
